At Highland Foundry Ltd, we serve clients throughout North America as well as internationally. Our strength is our people. From the executive office to the shop floor, Highland Foundry Ltd employs one of the most experienced and dedicated workforces in the industry. We have been successful in assembling a team of engineers and production personnel that provide us, and our customers, with a strong combination of formal training and decades upon decades of foundry experience. We take pride in our ability to solve unique casting challenges relating to design, function, castability, and chemical composition.

MOLD AND CORE

Molding - Cold-set floor and mechanized loop molding area utilizing automated rollover, mold coating, and curing process. 3D sand printed core and mold capability.


Greensand floor molding for low quantity jobbing work and jolt-squeeze machines for cost-effective production.


Core - shell, cold-set and sodium silicate plus an isocure binder core blower.

POURING

Ladles - teapot (top pour), basilite (lip pour) or large bottom pour.

Cold-set sand - 18 ton/hour mechanical with thermal reclamation.

Greensand - 6 ton/hour reclamation.

HEAT TREAT

Four API 6A and two NORSOK M-650 certified ovens.


High volume agitated water and controlled temperature quench tank - volume 15,000 US Gal.


Largest: 156” long x 108” wide x 96” tall - capacity 30,000 lbs.

INSPECTION

Two liquid penetrant work cells - one for large parts and a second automated cell for smaller production parts, complete with an internal wastewater recovery and treatment system.


12,000 amp multi-directional wet fluorescent magnetic particle, dry magnetic particle, and ultrasonic inspection.


Radiography using X-ray, cobalt, linear accelerator and digital (CR) computed examination.

QUALITY

SolidCast and FlowCast used for routine solidification modeling of production castings.


State of the art metallurgical lab complete with two SpectroLab spectrometers, Fischer Feritscope®, mechanical and corrosion testing with microstructure analysis.


Full process controlled sand test lab and an in-house automated workcell for machining of destructive test specimens.

PATTERN SHOP CAPABILITIES

Large scale 3 and 5 axis CNC Cutting, Wood, Metal and Composite tooling.

Low Run Styrofoam Tooling, and 1 Time use construction.

3D Laser scanning and FDM Printing for Reverse Engineering and Prototyping.

High production tools Including direct cut shell core boxes.

MACHINING CAPABILITIES

Rough, proof or finish machining, dimensional analysis and pressure testing.

White pickling/passivation and spray corrosion protection.

THE SITE

Highland Foundry Ltd’s 100,000 sq. ft. (9,290 sq. m.) facility is located on 8 acres (3.2 hectares) in Surrey, British Columbia, a suburb of Vancouver in Western Canada. The site is well positioned in proximity to major transportation routes. Vancouver International Airport is 25 miles (40 kilometres) away, and the closest US commercial border crossing is within 10 miles (16 kilometres).

The foundry consists of two main plants, both coordinated and controlled by a dedicated foundry production system that tracks castings from order entry to shipment.

DUPLEX & SUPER DUPLEX CASTINGS

We can meet special requirements using duplex stainless steel.
