Pulp Refiner Housing

One of our customers is a leading global supplier of wood fiber processing equipment and systems. The constant improvement of design and material selection is the goal in the partnership between this manufacturer and Highland Foundry.

The many processes used to turn wood and other cellulose materials to pulp are very demanding on the processing equipment. In mechanical pulping for instance, wood chips are transformed into fibers mechanically by grinding or milling when fed into a refiner.

The photograph shows a typical refiner disc housing casting which houses the most critical parts of the refining process. Mechanical pulp is used mainly in the production of newsprint, magazine paper as well as special cardboard grades.
